Why you need a Polarising Lens?
In order to take ideal photos, you may bought a camera and lens that suited youe needs. However, when faced with scenes with a lot of stray light and strong reflections, you couldn’t take the ideal photos, which was a headache. At this time, it is our turn for the protagonist this time – the “polarizer” to appear.
The most commonly used use of polarizers is to eliminate reflections and increase the saturation and contrast of photos and videos. Although current digital cameras can achieve this effect, many people still insist on completing the reflection elimination or enhancing the reflections in advance (yes, polarization The mirror is used in reverse to enhance reflection). Not only for taking photos, sometimes you can see the things inside the glass without reflection in the video, or the glass is strangely reflective. In this case, a polarizing filter is used.
How polarizers work?
A polarizer is a type of camera filter, also known as a polarizer. It is usually installed in front of the camera lens and can filter out stray light and make photos clearer. Polarizers can be divided into linear polarizers (PL) and circular polarizers (CPL). Most of them are circular polarizers used in digital cameras, and the English word is abbreviated as CPL.
The structure of polarizer
The structure of a polarizer includes a lens ring, a lens, and a pressure ring.
Lens ring: When the diameter is the same, the lens ring is mainly fixed with the camera lens.
Lens: The material is mostly optical glass, and there are multiple layers of coating on the lens to achieve the polarization effect of light.
Pressure ring: used to press the lens into the ring and fix it
Common materials for polarizer rims are aluminum alloy, titanium alloy and copper. The threads on the rim can be matched with other lenses or lens caps, and good results can be achieved even with a wide-angle lens.
Copper ring: It is used on some high-end brands of polarizers. It has good texture, wear resistance, is not easy to fade, and is resistant to damage.
Titanium alloy ring: only used on a small number of professional polarizers, with high hardness, good quality, strong corrosion resistance, and high temperature resistance.
Aluminum alloy rings: Aluminum alloy rings are more commonly used.
